Sponsorship & Affiliate Disclosure
Right now we have no sponsors and no affiliate relationships. No one pays us for anything in the newsletter or on this website.
How we will label sponsored content
If we accept a sponsor in future, the sponsored section will:
- be labelled "Sponsored" clearly, at the start of the section, in the email and in the archive;
- say who paid, who received the payment (Ytronic Corp), and how much was paid (or the value of any non-cash benefit), next to the label;
- if it relates to a listed company or security, name that security and the issuer;
- be visually separate from our news items, which are never paid for.
Example label: "Sponsored. Paid for by [Company name] ([Exchange]: [Ticker]). Ytronic Corp received $[amount] for this placement."
We follow the guidance in CSA/CIRO Staff Notice 31-369 and CSA Staff Notice 51-356. A company that pays for investor-relations or promotional activity may also have to announce that arrangement under its exchange's rules.
How we will label affiliate links
If we join an affiliate program (for example, with a Canadian broker), we may earn a commission when a reader signs up through our link. Where that happens:
- each affiliate link is marked "Affiliate link" right next to it, with a note that we may earn a commission;
- we use only the offer wording the partner has approved, and we don't claim a bonus or offer unless it is the current one;
- we state that Ytronic Corp is not a registered dealer or adviser and is not giving advice about the partner's services.
This follows the Competition Bureau's guidance that a commission or payment is a material connection that must be disclosed clearly: Influencer marketing and the Competition Act.
What sponsors and partners can't do
- They can't buy coverage in our news section, change what we report, or review items before publication.
- They can't buy our silence about news that affects them.
